PureVision Featured in Australian Biotechnology Tour

November 28, 2008

PureVision Technology, Inc., developer of an advanced biomass fractionation and utilization technology for producing biofuels and other biobased products, received an invitation earlier this year from the Australian Federal Government's Department of Innovation for Industry, Science and Research to participate in a series of biotechnology workshops.

Focusing on promoting a more robust biobased economy in Australia, the Commonwealth organized a series of workshops that took place during October and November in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. The Australian Government sponsored visits by representatives of four multi-national companies to give presentations at these workshops for Australian manufacturing and heavy industry. Speakers were asked to present their respective contributions being made as it relates to transitioning to a bio-based future.

PureVision was one of the four international companies chosen to present at these workshops. PureVision's President and CEO Ed Lehrburger presented the PureVision fractionation technology at each workshop along with Douglas Hawkins of Rohm & Hass, Damien Perriman of Dow Chemical and Stephen Meller of Procter and Gamble.

The timing of the Australian workshops was planned around AusBiotech 2008, an annual event and trade show targeted to promote the growing biotechnology industry in Australia. This year's AusBiotech event took place in Melbourne. In addition to the three workshops, representatives from the four international companies led a session entitled "Biotechnology for Industry" at the AusBiotech event. Mr. Lehrburger presented a step-wise technology development program to scale-up and build out commercial-scale biorefineries in Australia capable of converting abundant cellulosic biomass into biobased fuels and chemicals.

After the three-city workshop and speaking engagements, the tour continued outside of Townsville at the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences where Mr. Lehrburger and Dr. Hawkins gave their presentations. AIMS is Australia's tropical marine research agency and one of the world's most productive and innovative marine research centers, devoted to understanding and protecting the delicate ecosystems present in the Great Barrier Reef. AIMS is located on the east coast of Australia, in close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef.

Colorado-based PureVision has been developing and scaling up its unique biomass conversion technology since 1999, known as biomass fractionation. The PureVision technology rapidly converts cellulosic biomass, including corncobs, wheat straw and woody biomass into industrial raw materials for making many biobased products including ethanol and other biofuels. PureVision is working with collaborators to commercialize its biorefining technology in the U.S., Canada, South America and Australia. For more information, contact Ed Lehrburger by .
